I wanted to share my journey as a first year DC Teaching Fellow (DCTF)- the ups and downs, the victories and defeats, the chaotic system aka DC Public School System (DCPS).

I definitely saw a lot of the same in my cohort as you have seen...don't worry: those who are naive about the realities of DCPS will soon be enlightened. However, in spite of this, we have only had 1 person from my cohort (of 28) quit, so you never know who might grit it out. A lot of people had bets about who was going to make it and who wasn't and many have been surprised. I wish you all the best and look forward to reading your blog! And just out of curiosity: what will you be teaching this year?
I am a first year DC Teaching Fellow in Washington, DC. Earlier this year, I decided to make a change and teach in an urban environment. I will be sharing this experience with you as a way to vent, inform, share my triumphs, frustrations and thoughts, and seek help from fellow teachers and others.
Good luck with the job search. I agree with your assessment of summer school. I love teaching but I would not teach summer school on a bet.

I'm applying to the DCTF now. Knowing what you know now, would you recommend it?
